With regard to Best Answer of, "Go to a tattoo store and ask for them to get is removed. They probably use an ink the color of your skin to do it. Kind of like a new invisible tattoo. It might hurt, though." ... First of all, this is a TERRIBLE ANSWER! Second, here is why followed by the correct information... The bottom line should be started with here though which is that is absolutely NOT how a tattoo is removed!

  1. Adding more pigment to pigment will not make anything invisible. Think about coloring with markers... If you color green on the skin of a person, can you get rid of it by coloring over that with peach? No.

  2. Furthermore, it will make the coloring look horrendous in the end because you're just mixing random pigments together at this point and making things darker and darker and yet more and more discolored all at the same time!

  3. To remove dark pigment from hair, skin, or nails, it must be LIFTED, not colored over or redyed. With hair dye this is done with color lifting chemicals or bleach. With nail polish this is done with acetone or other similar chemicals.

  4. With skin this is a surgical procedure and it is NOT done at a tattoo parlor by a tattoo artist! Tattoo artists can cover up poorly done tattoos using DARKER colors and tricks to hide or camofoulage certain shapes and lines by working them into a new piece so you can no longer see them. But they cannot remove them. Only a doctor can.

  5. A dermatologist will remove the tattoo over a series of sessions using a very strong laser device that can only be purchased, owned and used by medical professionals. It's not uncommon for not all of the ink to be removed entirely and you may have to wait many years for the rest of it to hopefully fade away afterwards, but a small amount of visible faint lines or spackling may always remain visible. Or it may not and may easily and quickly erase completely. It depends entirely upon the type and color of ink used and the type and color of skin tattooed upon as well as the skill and knowledge of the aesthetician or plastic surgeon or dermatologist that's working on it. It is reputed to be a much more painful procedure than receiving a tattoo as well as to require many more sessions to remove than it took to initially apply the tattoo. Modern innovations have probably started to make this procedure more effective, less painful and less time consuming and tedious than it was when it initially became available on the market as a possible remedy for removing ugly or unwanted tattoos in the 1980s.

Whomever was saying that they remove tattoos by having tattoo artists tattoo over dark ink with skin colored ink - if you don't ACTUALLY KNOW the answer to a question someone is asking, you're best just not saying anything because just answering with a guess as though you're knowledgable just makes you look like a fool and misdirects other well meaning individuals who might not know better.
