Chain of memories happens in between one and two and is sort of like a prologue for 2. The order the story follows is Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, then Kingdom Hearts 2!!!! Answer First Kingdom Hearts, then Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, and last Kingdom Hearts II. Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories is what happens in between Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2.
