How do you unlock characters in Mario Golf 64?

Beat all of the ring shot levels, on one player mode choose get character mode then verse the character and if you win you unlock that character. Characters unlocked from this mode are: luigi, Yoshi, sonny, wario, harry, Mario, bowser. Also if you get 50 birdie badges in tournament mode you get maple, and if you get all the badges you get the best of best characters metal Mario who's power is 280yrds!

you can't unlock waluigi in Super Mario 64 and super Mario 64 ds, because he is not a playable character in these games

then why there is a white door in the change room?

Because the door wants to be there.

I've read many rumors on the internet and tried them (yes i still have a ds i wish to be young again). None of them worked. There was one that slightly unlocked him, proving he was intended to be in the game but ultimately got scrapped. (yes i wasted my time importing my files to my computer.) However, i did find several character models. But sadly loading these files into the game does nothing(N64 AND DS version). Very sad that this happened. but if I could find the websites SOMEWHERE in my army of bookmarks, i could provide you some links. The mods actually work pretty well.
