In rheumatoid arthritis the body's own immune system attacks the joints and sometimes other organs in the body. We still don't understand why. Joints usually in the hands, wrists, elbows, knees or feet, on both sides of the body simultaneously swell and become painful and tender as a result The lining of the joints, the synovium swelling and becoming inflamed.
This is a chronic disease and once you are diagnosed with it you know it will be with you for life.
To date there has been no cure developed for it and the best you can hope for is that it goes into remission or responds well to treatment designed to control the damage cause by the illness.

Because this disease if not well controlled, is capable of damaging other organs such as the heart lungs and other organs.

I Have had Rheumatoid arthritis all of my life and have had some trouble with it since I was about 8 now at 60 I am under the treatment of a specialist to keep it under control however during my life I have had periods of extreme pain and the times when I had no problems at all, so you can say that it comes and goes. The great thing is that these days things can be kept under much better control. But it will never leave the system completely unless someone comes up with a cure.

JRA cant be discribed as a malignant disease, It is a autoimune disease that is likely to be with the person that has it for life as there is no cure for it. like something that is malignant it can show up in many parts of the body bt this it where the similarity ends.

No there is no cure for RA at present the only thing that can be done is treat the symptoms and and avoid the damage it causes with anti inflammatory and disease modifying drugs.
