The heart has an area called the sinuatrial node, often called the SA node, in the upper right atrium. The SA node is responsible for generating a never-ending series of rhythmic electrical pulses that radiate through specific electrical conduction pathways in the heart. The heart muscle contracts when stimulated by one of these electrical pulses. The SA node and the conduction pathways coordinate the timing and delivery of the electrical stimulations at various locations in the heart muscle so that the heart contractions result in a coherent and productive pumping action.

The heart rate is regulated by the constricting and expanding of blood vessels. When the capillaries constrict, blood has limited space to move through, thus the heart beats faster. When the capillaries expand or relax, blood has more space to move through the vessels and the heart beats slower. It's also regulated by the brain. The SA, or Sinoatrial node, sends signals to the heart from the brain to increase or decrease the beats.

The heart is a muscle. The brain sends impulses to the heart along nerve fibres. These impulses are sent to nodes that line the heart, these nodes regulate the rate and rhythm of the heart as it contracts to pump blood to the body.

Does blood keeps the heart pumping?

not entirely, if the blood flow stops,so does the heart, but the heart is mainly used to keep the blood flowing so it can get to different parts of the body. Electricity can keep a heart pumping if the correct amount of flow is being produced so blood can be replaced for the heart but cannot sustain a human body.

What do they main blood vessels in the heart do?

keep you alive! they bring blood to the heart so it can get circulated round the body and lungs again

What is heart process?

the hearts process is to keep the blood flowing through out your whole body

Why does the heart have thick muscle?

Too pump blood around your body to keep you alive!

How does the heart work brief answer?

The heart pumps blood around the body to ensure your body has enough blood in your body otherwise you can die instantly. The heart is an automated, muscular machine that uses muscles to pump blood. The heart has 4 chambers and valves. The top chambers pull blood into the heart, and the lower chambers push it out. The valves keep the blood moving in only one direction so the heart can work. If the blood tries to go both ways, pumping doesn't occur. The natural pacemaker that is a branch of the vagus nerve is what slows down the heart and regulates the speed. One side of the heart pulls oxygenated blood from the lungs and send it to the body starting with the aorta (the largest artery). The other side of the heart pulls the stale blood from the vena cava (the largest vein) and sends it to the lungs.

your heart is a pump and keeps the blood flowing

Why do you have valves in your heart?

To Keep the blood moving in the right direction

What keep the blood moving through the circulatory system?

The heart.

What is the function of heart muscle?

The heart is a muscle and it pumps blood to all the body.it pumps the blood in a circlethe heart itself is one. it pumps blood through the body.they contract and pump blood through your body

How do you protect yourself from cold?

Keep moving. When you are moving, your blood is circulating. When your blood is circulating, your body remains warm.

What are the functions of the circulatory system in the human body?

It is where your blood flows throughout your body. It is connected to your heart. To keep the blood flow moving throughout the body, and provide us with nutrients and dispose of any toxins or wastes. The circulatory system helps the body function by having oxygen rich blood flow through the body. Also delivering oxygen rich blood to the heart so your heart can keep pumping because it has oxygen rich blood in it.

How might your muscular system help keep you warm?

It keeps you warm from the constant moving of the body. Because your body is always moving, your heart pumps out blood and the blood is always warm. Your heart is also a muscle so it pumps the warm blood to the muscles because they are constantly working and when you excercise or your muscles get tired because of the buildup of lactic acid in your muscles. That is why you breathe heavily when you excercise, to keep the blood and oxygen flowing enough for your muscles.

How does the heart keep the body running smoothly?

The heart pumps oxygenated blood throughout the body to the organs and receives and pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs for purifying.

Why does the heart beat all the time?

The body needs oxygen and nutrients all the time, and needs to be constantly rid of the wastes it produces. Since the blood does all this, the heart beats all the time to keep the blood moving and, therefore, performing its functions.

What is a use of the heart?

it pumps blood throughout the body and supply energy it can keep pumping blood cells throughout the body
