you use fractional distillation! basically, all the different substances in crude oil have different boiling points, and the column which is used to do fractional distillation has stages with different temperatures. when the substance reaches its boiling point temperature in the column, it turns into liquid and settles there, away from other fuels.

Factories where crude oil is separated into fuels and other products are called?

Refinery

How do you get oil out of the ground?

Oil is pumped out of the ground by first locating the oil and determining how far below the ground it is. A large drill is then used to drill to where the oil is and a rig is used to pump the oil out of the ground to be sent off to the refinery.

How do we get fuel from crude oil?

It is distilled into different fractions, heavy fuel oil (e.g. for ships), kerosene (planes), diesel (cars), gas/petrol (cars), as an example. Also the heavier fractions from distillations may also be 'cracked' to produce more volatile components. The cracking process is undertaken using catalysis.

What can crude oil make?

Crude oil can be refined to make a plethora of petroleum product. Kerosene, gasoline, petroleum jelly (commonly known as Vaseline), lubricating oil, and heavy fuel, and many other products. Crude oil contains many different substances which all separate during the refining process.

Where do you get crude oil from and how do extract crude oil?

Crude oil is oil got from directly extracting process. you can use an oil extracting machine such as screw oil press or hydraulic oil press which are common oil extracting machines used for this.

Explain how the different chemical compounds in crude oil are separated?

Crude oil is distilled, producing different fractions at different temperatures.

Why crude oil is separated into different fractions?

Unless you own a cargo ship and run it on crude oil - some operators do - it has to be separated into fractions before it's usable.

What is used to separate different fractions in crude oil?

Typically they are separated in a fractional distillation tower.

Process of separating crute oil into fractions?

Crude oil is separated by fractional distillation in an oil refinery.

How is underground oil used?

It is brought to the surface and taken to an oil refinery where the different components are separated, like heating oil, diesel, gasoline, aviation fuel. These are different fractions of the crude oil from the well.

Is crude oil compound or mixture?

Crude oil is a mixture of compounds called hydrocarbons. Many useful materials can be produced from crude oil. It can be separated into different fractions using fractional distillation, and some of these can be used as fuels. Unfortunately, there are environmental consequences when fossil fuels such as crude oil and its products are used.

Can you separate oil?

Crude oil is readily separated into fractions one of which is gasoline. Lubricating oil is much more difficult.

Is crude oil a substance?

Crude oil is a mixture of short to long chain hydrocarbons. It has to be separated into many different fractions to become usable. It may also contain mineral impurities due to it being underground

How can crude oil be separated into its components?

It is separated by fractional distillation into the different components.

What is the factory where crude oil is separated?

Crude oil is separated in an oil refinery which makes a bunch of different byproducts such as airplane gas, kerosene, and alot more. -cooleye101

What is a process in which crude oil can be separated?

Ditillation at different temperatures

How crude oil is separated into useful fraction?

Crude oil is separated into different substances with similar boiling points. The substances in crude oil can be separated using fractional distillation. The crude oil is evaporated and its vapours are allowed to condense at different temperatures in the fractionating column. Each fraction contains hydrocarbon molecules with a similar number of carbon atoms
