it is 4.54 billion years...
All current evidence points to about that age.
There is no way of knowing as in might of fallen in the dinosaur age and it was not recorded
The traditional answer to this question is 6,000 years according to religious texts, but as these documents have traded hands innumerable times and been revised to promote the powers of various leaders (such as the King James Bible), they cannot be taken as scientifically accurate. The Scientific American helps shed light on the process that took us from religious explanations to scientific ones:"It was not until 1926, when (under the influence of Arthur Holmes, whose name recurs throughout this story) the National Academy of Sciences adopted the radiometric timescale, that we can regard the controversy as finally resolved. Critical to this resolution were improved methods of dating, which incorporated advances in mass spectrometry, sampling and laser heating. The resulting knowledge has led to the current understanding that the earth is 4.55 billion years old."
Radiometric dating - one of the most reliable and consistent techniques known to modern science - of rocks on both Earth and its moon, as well as multiple other celestial objects, demonstrates that the rocks tested were formed on a timescale ranging from millions to billions of years old, and all falling somewhere along this timeline. The oldest dated materials cannot be much younger or older than Earth itself, and strongly suggest an age of around 4.6 billion years. Other evidences that suggest a long history of Earth's existence exist, and correlate together at various points both internally and with each other. These all also fit within the timeline provided by radiometrics, lending strong support for the fact of a very old Earth.
The oldest crust on earth can be found in Australia and parts of Canada. It ranges in age from 3. 7 to 4. 28 billion years old.
Perhaps, Earth took around 30 million years to form after the Sun formed. Sun age is about 4.57 billion years, whereas Earth's is about 4.54 billion years.
4.6 billion years ago the earth was formed
The Earth is estimated to be around 4.5 billion years old, formed approximately 9 billion years after the formation of the universe. This age is determined through radiometric dating of rocks and meteorites.
Earth formed approximately 4.5 billion years ago, not 50 billion years ago or 5 billion years ago. This age estimate is based on radiometric dating of meteorites and rocks on Earth.
The Sun is about 4,570,000,000 years (4.57 Billion) The Earth formed shortly after, so they are almost the same age. The Sun is approximately 30 Million years older than the Earth
All current evidence points to about that age.
4.5 billion years ago
The Earth is estimated to be around 4.5 billion years old according to scientific studies and evidence. It formed around the same time as the rest of the solar system, evolving over billions of years into the planet we know today.
The current best estimate for the age of the Earth is 4.567 Billion years old. Please see the related link.
This is unknown. Any estimates on the age of the Earth are largely conjecture but most agree the age of the Earth is in the billions of years old. From a Christian viewpoint, the Bible simply states that "in the beginning" God created the heavens and the Earth. We have no idea how long ago that beginning was.
The current best estimate for the age of the Earth is approximately 4.6 billion years, so it is much older than 50 million years!
The Sun, Moon and planets, including Earth, were formed at the same time. The entire solar system was formed about 4.5-4.6 billion years ago.
