As an end note, as you have not stated the exact wine you are referring to, I would like to let you know that a dry white vermouth will last virtually eons. It has added alcohol, and is great to keep on hand for cooking purposes, as it does not go bad, and does not need to be chilled. It isn't, however, the best wine for drinking...I would use it for cooking purposes only.
If it is stored properly it will last longer than you do.

Sadly, not long, especially if it's Amontillado, they're only good for like a month. Medium Dry sherries should be good for about a year.
7 days
Cheap wines are made and sold to be drunk immediately. They will not improve with age. You could keep a bottle of cheap red or white in a drinkable condition for about three years, but it won't be as good as the day you bought it.

A bottle of an opened white wine is OK for about a week. A bottle of an opened red wine can last about a month. How do you put a spoon in a wine bottle?
It depends on what sort it is. There are quite a few variables, but it should be good for several years unopened and in a cool, dry storage area. Once you open it, it should last for several months.
