I had this procedure done on December 28, 2007. I spent one night in the ICU (to monitor blood pressure) and was released the next afternoon. I was driving six days later and was out of the office for 5. My neck has healed beautifully although the scar is visible. There is nerve damage and my right ear lobe is numb as is the skin in front of the inscision - my doctor told me there is a 50/50 chance that the nerves will regenerate. Small price to pay as far as I am concerned.
