It is said there was thousands of aftershocks after the 1994 Northridge earthqauke about 30 km east of LA (Los Angeles). A 5.9 aftershock occured almost one minute after the original earthquake. About 11 hours later another one occured.

Aftershocks are smaller earthquakes that occur after a larger earthquake in the same area. They are a result of the earths crust near the fault rupture readjusting as a result of the main earthquake (also known as the "main shock").
there was 13 aftershocks after the earthquake in haiti
There have been a few earthquakes felt in Minnesota, but many people have lived in the state their whole lives and never experienced an earthquake. The first earthquake was recorded in 1860. The largest earthquake was a Magnitude of 4.6 on July 8, 1975. The most recent earthquake in Minnesota was recorded on February 9, 1994.
The US Geological survey report that (as of the 5th of February, 2010) there have been 59 aftershocks of magnitude 4.5 or greater. Sixteen of which had magnitudes of 5.0 or above. The two largest aftershocks had a magnitude of 6.0 and 5.9. The magnitude 6.0 aftershock occurred 7 minutes after the main earthquake on the 12th of January and the magnitude 5.9 aftershock occurred at 11:03 GMT on the 20th of January. Approximately 50,000 people left the United States following the Northridge earthquake in 1994. Many were displaced from their homes or sought refuge elsewhere due to the extensive damage and disruption caused by the earthquake.

These smaller earthquakes are called aftershocks. Aftershocks can often be as strong as the earthquake its self and there can be many.
The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake resulted in thousands of aftershocks. Some sources estimate there were over 50,000 aftershocks following the main earthquake, with magnitudes ranging from 4.0 to 7.3.
There were numerous aftershocks following the Chile earthquake, with the strongest ones occurring within the first few days. The exact number of aftershocks can vary depending on the source, but there were hundreds reported following the main earthquake event.
More than 50 aftershocks all measuring about 4.9
The Christchurch earthquake of 2011 had over 13,000 aftershocks.

The 2014 Chile earthquake, which struck on April 1, had numerous aftershocks, with reports indicating more than 100 significant aftershocks following the main quake. The largest aftershock registered a magnitude of 7.1. Aftershocks are common in seismic zones, and in this case, many of them were felt in the coastal regions of Chile. The earthquake and its aftershocks highlighted the ongoing seismic activity in the area.
