I'm not sure measurement wise......but...................
As in most diffs....you check the gear oil by opening a large plug screw, located on the side of the diff, with a 3/8 , or a 1/2 inch ratchet driver.
The gear oil should just start to spill a little bit out of the hole after you take out the plug. If it does not spill ANY oil.....THEN you are low. Just use your finger , stick it downward in the hole, and you will feel the oil level. (seriously)
Rear end of the engine - front end of the transmission

It is a chyrsler 9.25, has a diff cover that looks like a stop sign(octagon) and has 12 diff. cover bolts.
Look your diff seal...and check the oil in the diff...
Simple answer is count the bolts on the diff cover. Generally 7.5 rear ends are 10 bold and have somewhat square corners. While the 8.5 rear ends have 12 bolts and are round.
Bigger brakes on cop car.
Just check with your local transmission/ diff. auto shop. The parts can be ordered. On a chevy, the cost is around $ 500.00. Ford should be around the same, maybe $ 600.00 top.
