The cost of a CT scan test ranges from a few hundred dollars up to a few thousand dollars per body part. Sometimes your doctor will order multiple body parts at the same time, doubling or tripling the cost. If paying out of pocket, shop around. There can be a large difference in testing among area businesses. You must also consider if your doctor orders it with contrast there may be a charge for the contrast ranging from $500 to over $1200 additional.

If asking the price of a CT scan machine. This can also vary greatly. I have seen good used machines sell for $20,000 all the way up to top of the line new machines selling for $2 million.

Prices vary greatly from one business to another. Some places have greatly discounted prices for some screening scans. If paying yourself, you can save money by calling around to different places. (when calling ask about discounted pricing for paying your bill off within a certain time or all at once) (also ask if they have any other discounts or is this just a listed price) If you are insured, your insurance has usually worked out a discounted price with a local diagnostic area. I have seen some scan prices as low as $100 while I have seen some combinations of multiple scans over $12,000.
