Is smack an adjective?

No, it is not. It can be a noun (hit, kiss) or a verb (to strike or hit). In the slang term smack talk, it is a noun adjunct.*It can, arguably, be an adverb meaning "directly" in the form he fell smack on his head.

If an oil-water mix is flowing out of the dipstick would it be caused by a head gasket or rings?

It would most likely be the head gasket as there is water in the oil. The rings would lose compression. Probably head gasket or cracked head or block. Most likely the head gasket. For sure not the rings. If you have aluminum head and the engine has been overheated, then a cracked head is likely. Also there are some weird engines are out there. IE some of the GM Quad Four engines have a water pump that is driven by the timing chain. If the seal goes bad in that pump, then water will leak directly into the engine. btw, that particular water pump is probably the worst and hardest water pump replacement job known to cars. Good Luck Rick

Ct scanning protocols for head trauma?

A brain scan after a head trauma is nearly always done without contrast, because bleeding also shows up white on the scan. The scan should be done as quickly as possible with the shortest scan time because patients with head injuries are often restless. If there is a suspected neck injury, the patients head will have be scanned in the position it is in, and the patient can not be moved into the 'head box'. After the scan, both brain and bone setting views should be looked at to establish if there are any fractures.

Why is Polaris at its highest latitude in the Arctic Circle?

The Earthg's north pole points very close to Polaris in the sky. So Polaris is directly over your head when you stand at the north pole, it's on your horizon when you stand on the equator, and it's somewhere between your horizon and the point directly over your head when you stand somewhere between the north pole and the equator.

Can laser pointers kill you?

I suppose a crate full of them could fall on your head ... Or someone could shine one in your eyes when you were driving ... But barring something like that, laser pointers do not have enough power to harm skin. You shouldn't look directly at them (as the sign on more than one research laser I've seen says, "Do not stare directly into beam with remaining eye"), but you can shine it at your hand for as long as you like.

Why are people who ride in a motorcycles almost to wear a helmet?

When is the new moon directly over head?

The New Moon is directly overhead in locations close to the equator but even when the New Moon is directly overhead it won't be visible because the shadowed side of the moon is facing the Earth. Also when the New Moon is directly overhead, the sun will also be close to overhead as well, as the moon is closest to the sun during the New Moon phase.
