It varies with the person. Personally, the first thing I noticed was my left arm aching. The ache you feel when you get extremely cold. Nothing in the chest. Thought it was just a muscle ache. 10 minutes later, I started sweating and had a slight tremor in my whole body. Figured what it was, drove to the hospital, walked in and when they asked what I wanted, I calmly told them Oh I'm having a heart attack. No point in getting excited about it. Some people feel very little and some say an elephant is sitting on their chest.

A heart attack is one of the scariest things that a person can experience. Though many people suffer a heart attack every year, a large percentage of people recover and lead a healthy life after leaving the hospital. This condition is more common in men than it is in women. Men who suffer a heart attack can determine the problem by looking at some of the more common symptoms.Chest PainOne of the most common symptoms of a heart attack in a man is chest pain. Many people assume that the pain is extreme or intense, but the amount of pain that a person feel can be quite mild. Those who experience less pain typically have a minor heart attack that doctors can treat quickly. Some people feel a tightness or cramping sensation in the upper chest, while others experience a stronger sensation of pain in the chest. The chest can also feel full, as if the person ate too much. Some heart attack patients note that the pain lasts for several minutes, but some patients find that the pain lasts for only a few seconds.Other PainsChest pain is not the only pain that people suffer during a heart attack. Many people experience pain in one or more areas of the body, including the back, abdomen, arms, jaw or neck. Some patients notice that they experience shooting pain. For example, the pain radiates from the chest to the arm and down that arm. Heart attack victims can experience pain that shoots to other areas of the body as well.Other SymptomsIf you think that you are a victim of a heart attack, you should keep your eyes open for any additional signs. Someone suffering a heart attack might feel like he has the stomach flu because he feels nauseous and experiences an tightness in the stomach. Patients also experience trouble breathing, and some patients feel lightheaded. While not everyone has the same symptoms of a heart attack, these are the more common symptoms in men. Symptoms of a Heart Attack?

The symptoms of a heart attack often begin subtly and are difficult to detect. However, left untreated, symptoms of a heart attack are potentially deadly. Because of this, all symptoms of a heart attack are to be treated as a medical emergency. If you or someone you know is experiencing any of the following symptoms of a heart attack, please proceed to an emergency room immediately. Chest Pain- The discomfort or pain associated with a heart attack can feel like a tightness, ache, pressure, fullness, or a squeezing in the center of your chest. Chest pains are often described as spasms. Upper Body Pain- Discomfort may spread beyond your chest, spreading to your shoulders, arms, neck, back, or even your jaw. It is possible to experience unexplained upper body pain without chest pain. Stomach Pain- Stomach pain associated with a heart attack often feels like heartburn. Shortness of Breath- Shortness of breath often occurs before chest pain begins. Panting, wheezing, and inability to catch your breath are possible signs of a heart attack about to occur. Anxiety- Unexplained panic attacks or a sense of impending doom can signal a serious health condition such as a heart attack about to occur. Lightheadedness- Feeling dizzy or feeling as though you may pass out frequently accompany spasms and chest pains. Sweating- Unexplained, sudden sweating is another symptom of a heart attack. This usually occurs in the form of a cold sweat, accompanied by clammy skin. Nausea and Vomiting- People suffering from heart attacks frequently become nauseous or vomit. Though the symptoms of a heart attack may be subtle or difficult to detect at first, early detection is the key to survival. Don't be tempted to brush of your symptoms or downplay their seriousness. Even if you feel your symptoms may be related to indigestion or anxiety, do not wait out the symptoms of a heart attack for more than five minutes. If symptoms continue after five minutes, call 911 and get yourself to an emergency medical center immediately. It could save your life.
