If it's an electrical one, first switch off the breaker that controls it, then open the end panel of the diffuser and disconnect it from the wires from the wall.
Now look along inside the back of the frame and unscrew any screws that are holding it to the wall. Now it should be loose. When it's off, marrete and tape the wires in the wall and place them inside the junction box
