When you say silicone, I think of caulk. I always use Goof Off to remove things like glue, caulk, ink, paint, and so on. I find lots of uses for it around the house when I'm working on projects. They sell it at the Home Depot (any home center) for less than $5. The Goof Off will loosen the silicone a lot. You can also use a putty knife or razor blade and pliers to help remove it.

The best stuff I found is Motsenbocker's Lift off Silicone Latex caulk & foam sealant remover. It's easy to use and works fast.

Yes. Heat sinks around computer processors are colder than the processors: they "remove" thermal energy from the processors and so stop them from overheating.

What kind of undermount would one need when fitting a stainless steel sink?

Undermount is actually a style of sink. This style of sink is mounted below the edge of the counter so there is no lip around the sink. It is important that stainless steel undermount sinks be properly installed using a two-part epoxy adhesive and silicone caulking as a sealant.
