my oil light pressure light comes on when my car is at rest yet when I am driving it goes off or if I keep the rev count up slightly it is a vauxhall astra 56 plate.Any ideas what this is most likely to be.
First be sure the oil level is correct and you are using the correct weight oil for that engine and climate. Then check that the engine idle speed is correct. Then check the oil pressure sending unit for accuracy with temporally installing a manual oil pressure gauge. If all that checks okay, you probably have a tired engine with worn bearings and oil pump.
keep filling it till it reaches top lever mark on the dipstick and also make sure you are on level ground when topping up
I'm guessing, but the coolant level sensor is probably in the overflow bottle and it is low. This is so you notice it before the radiator itself is low.
the UV light kills single-celled organisms
The light may be the low fluid level for the master cylinder also. Check the fluid level.

To change the high-level brake light bulb on a 2010 Vauxhall Astra, first, open the rear hatch and locate the high-level brake light assembly. Remove the plastic cover or access panel by gently prying it off or unscrewing it, depending on the model. Disconnect the wiring harness from the bulb socket, then twist the bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it. Replace the old bulb with a new one, reassemble the socket, and test the light before securing the cover back in place.
The box with a fan symbol on a 2002 Vauxhall Astra Bertone typically indicates an issue with the vehicle’s cooling system or the engine temperature. It may signal that the engine is overheating or that the cooling fan is not functioning properly. If this warning light appears, it's important to check the coolant level and monitor the engine temperature to prevent potential damage. If the light remains on, it's advisable to consult a mechanic for further diagnosis.
To fit Vauxhall roof bars to a Vauxhall Astra, first ensure you have the correct roof bars designed for the model. Begin by locating the mounting points on the roof; these are usually covered by small plastic caps. Align the roof bars with these points and secure them using the provided bolts or clamps, ensuring they are tightened to the manufacturer's specifications. Finally, check that the bars are level and securely attached before loading any items onto them.
On a 2001 Vauxhall Astra (Y-reg) with a 1.4 engine, the water tank, or coolant reservoir, is typically located near the front of the engine bay, on the driver's side. It is a translucent plastic tank with a cap that is usually labeled with a coolant symbol. Make sure to check the coolant level when the engine is cool for safety.
Either the coolant level is low and needs topping up, or more likely that the sensor is faulty. Experience shows that for ever 10 cars with that showing 9 have a fault with the sensor. Check the level anyway!
To drain the coolant in a 2007 Vauxhall Astra, first, ensure the engine is cool and the vehicle is parked on a level surface. Locate the radiator drain plug at the bottom of the radiator and place a container underneath to catch the coolant. Open the drain plug and allow the coolant to flow out completely. Once drained, close the plug, and refill the system with the appropriate coolant mixture.
To change the gear oil in a Vauxhall Astra 1.7 TDI, start by ensuring the vehicle is on a level surface and securely lifted. Remove the drain plug at the bottom of the transmission and let the old oil drain completely. Afterward, replace the drain plug and fill the transmission with new gear oil through the fill plug until it reaches the proper level. Finally, check for any leaks and dispose of the old oil responsibly.
For the Astra G (Mk 4) models, the gearbox does not have a specific oil filler hole. The reversing light switch can however be unscrewed for this purpose, but as it is quite a small hole, and not in a very convenient position, it is helpful to use an oil can with a flexible spout. There is an oil level plug which must also be removed to ensure that the gearbox is not overfilled. This is located by the left hand drive shaft, and can be difficult to access. The operation should, of course, be carried out with the car on the level.
To change the speedo sensor on a Vauxhall Astra V Reg 1.4, first ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the ignition is off. Locate the speedo sensor, which is typically found on the transmission. Disconnect the electrical connector and unscrew the sensor using the appropriate tool. Install the new sensor by reversing the procedure, ensuring it is securely fastened and reconnect the electrical connector.
The cost of a Vauxhall Astra varies based on the model year, trim level, and condition (new or used). As of late 2023, new models typically range from around £20,000 to £30,000, while used models can be found for significantly less, often between £5,000 and £15,000 depending on age and mileage. For the most accurate pricing, it's best to check local listings or dealership websites.
To adjust the handbrake cable on a Vauxhall Astra, first, ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely parked. Locate the handbrake lever and remove the cover to access the adjustment nut. Tighten or loosen the nut until the handbrake lever has the appropriate travel (usually around 3-5 clicks for proper engagement). Finally, replace the cover and test the handbrake to ensure it holds the vehicle securely.
The most likely cause is a fault with the fluid level sensor. The sensor was removed from production about 6 months after production started, as all cars had the light coming on. If the level is Ok, your local Vauxhall dealer can probably reprogram the steering system to "ignore" the sensor.
