Characteristics of Impressionist paintings include visible brush strokes, open composition, emphasis on light in its changing qualities (often accentuating the effects of the passage of time), ordinary subject matter, the inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience, and unusual visual angles. The emergence of Impressionism in the visual arts was soon followed by analogous movements in other media which became known as Impressionist music and Impressionist literature. Degas is often identified as an Impressionist, an understandable but insufficient description. The Impressionists painted the realities of the world around them using bright, "dazzling" colors, concentrating primarily on the effects of light, and hoping to infuse their scenes with immediacy. Technically, Degas differs from the Impressionists in that he "never adopted the Impressionist color fleck", and he continually belittled their practice of painting en plein air. "He was often as anti-impressionist as the critics who reviewed the shows", as Degas himself explained, "no art was ever less spontaneous than mine. What I do is the result of reflection and of the study of the great masters; of inspiration, spontaneity, temperament, I know nothing."
Dissonance
The opposite of harmony in music is dissonance. Dissonance means "the lack of harmony among musical notes". Another word that could be used to describe the opposite of harmony is cacophony, which means "a harsh, discordant mixture of sounds."
Amorsolo
He wrote classical music in the impressionist time era. It could also be considered during the romantic or modern, since the impressionist time era was overlapping the other two. Impressionist music is considered to be very beautiful but also contains modern elements in the style of the compositions.
The technique of setting words to music to reflect their meaning is called "text painting" or "word painting." This technique aims to enhance the lyrical content and emotional impact of the music by depicting or illustrating the text through musical elements such as melody, rhythm, and harmony.
Claude Debussy composed impressionist music, which was a new style of music with modern ideas. He composed impressionist music at the same time as Maurice Ravel.

Claude Debussy is known for the impressionist music that he composed.
Impressionist music is very similar to art. It is mostly defined by its use of pedal - almost constant. This enables the listener to take in a piece as a whole, rather like in older music (like Bach) analyse it note by note. Impressionist music is often softer and more relaxing. E.g. Dr. Gradus Ad Parnassum, by Debussy
