It is possible the hand/foot parking brake may be partially engaged. With the foot parking brake, you may have to pull on the release handle while simultaneously with your foot, pull back on the parking brake.
You have a brake problem. Start by checking fluid before you drive next.
check brake fluid
Either the BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IS LOW in the brake master cylinder in your engine compartment or your parking brake / emergency brake is still engaged
Defective or misaligned stop light switch? Usually located at the upper end of brake pedal under dash area
Either your parking brake ( emergency brake ) is on or the brake fluid level in your brake master cylinder in your engine compartment is LOW
you have air in your brakes bleed them
This happens whenever the weather gets too cold the brake Dash light stays on but not a problem it should go away after you drive for like 10 min depending on how cold it is
if you mean the brake light on the dash... fill your brake fluid as it's probably low If you mean the brake lights outside the car, your switch is shorted and needs replacement, or you need to lift your foot off the pedal
If a brake light stays on it's usually just a sticky or bad switch. The brake light switch is under the dash and is activated by the brake pedal. It could have some grunge on it preventing the switch from closing. Try cleaning the plunger. If that doesn't work (and it probably won't) replacement is very easy. Cheers
The brake light in the dash comes on if the parking brake is engaged or the brake fluid level is low in the brake master cylinder in the engine compartment
My owner's manual says it's either low brake fluid or a faulty parking brake switch.
