No. It's just a really good book. It asks a lot of questions about evil, and how we as a society should deal with evil, but the book itself isn't evil. It is about a person who harms others, who goes through a kind of brainwashing process where he still *wants* to hurt people, but can't, because hurting people causes him intense psychological pain. And then, because of the cruelty of the brainwashing, it is removed, and he goes back to hurting people. It asks questions about what we can do in society to stop people when they choose evil, and have no desire to change. What do we as a society have a right to do in such cases... where does individual freedom stop, and how much can society interfere with the freedom of people who are dangerous to others?

The film starring Malcolm McDowell was released in the early 70s. It was graphic in its attitude to violence. Its language was adopted in part by some Skinhead groups who also took on some of the dress characteristics. The music added enormous effect and was later released as an album. It was because of censorship that the film saw a short but very effective circuit in cinemas. Whilst may not be evil, it came at a time where it had huge impact on the youth of the time and was blamed for many violent culture copycat issues.
