Well the first kingdom hearts is pretty sad because they want you to want more so you would be able to play Kingdom Hearts 2. Oh yeah, and i already played through kingdom hearts and to tell you the truth, you are also right since it really is sad. Thank you for your question.

∙ 11y agoAt times, it is. When Sora loses his memories, he doesn't get to see Kairi or Riku for a year. Also, due to Sora losing his memories of the people he met, they in turn lose their memories of him. This is shown in Kingdom Hearts 2 when many Disney characters claim that they forgot about Sora until recently when they just remembered him. Riku pretends to be part of the Organization XIII to save him. Kairi had nearly forgot about Sora after the change in memories by Naminé. So yes, it is. But play the game, you will be in for a wonderful surprise. :)

You should First play Kingdom Hearts, then Kingdom Hearts 2. Finally, play Chain of memories. -- that's wrong. KH 2 makes far less sense if you havent played chain of memories. Chain of memories happens in between one and two and is sort of like a prologue for 2. The order the story follows is Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, then Kingdom Hearts 2!!!! Answer First Kingdom Hearts, then Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, and last Kingdom Hearts II. Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories is what happens in between Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2.
