That depends on what you like. As a group you have the camaraderie and the ability to share ideas and come up with things you probably wouldn't come up with yourself. But there is also the possibility of powerplays and jealousies within the group.
As a single artist you don't have to share the spotlight, the credit or the glory with anyone. But you have to come up with a backup band if you want anything other than your own guitar, or keyboards or whatever instrument you play.
