Is it morally right to make art from suffering? To answer this, you really have to ask another question: why are you making artwork from such a situation? Morality is equally about why you did something as it is you actually doing the said action.
If you were making art about suffering for, say, historical or educational purposes, then the morality of enhancing understanding outweighs that you've made art about suffering. However, if you were to do it for personal pleasure, unless the suffering or its meaning directly applies to you or a loved one, general Western social norm states that this would be an immoral act; Because you'd be reaping pleasure from suffering.
So remember, when wondering whether it's 'right' or 'wrong', weight out as to what that piece of art is going to give the world, and whether it'll give any form of justice to the situation you're portraying.
