Who is an explorer with a name starting with Q?

Pedro Fernandes de Queiros aka Quiros [1563-1615] was a Portuguese and Spanish speaking explorer of the Pacific Ocean. Particularly noteworthy were his voyage of 1595-1596, and his expedition of 1605-1606. In the former, he piloted Alvaro de Mendana de Neira aka Neyra [1542-October 1595] to the colonization of the Solomon Islands. With the death of Mendana, Queiros got the remaining crew and ship to the Philippines. With the latter, he visited the New Hebrides, and tried to colonize modern-day Vanuatu. Or was the colony attempted instead in the area of Gladstone, Queensland? So was he indeed the first European - before Abel Janszoon Tasman [1603-October 10, 1659] and Capt. James Cook [1728-February 14, 1779] - to discover Australia? Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada [1495-1579] was a Spanish-speaking explorer of Colombia. In 1536, he commanded an expedition that resulted in the founding of the modern-day capital city of Bogota. But in his single-minded, unsuccessful pursuit of El Dorado [The Golden City], he may have served as the model for the hapless, fictional knight Don Quixote, as created by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra [September 29, 1547-April 23, 1616]. Manuel Quimper Benitez del Pino [c. 1757-April 1844] was a Spanish-speaking explorer and mapmaker who had been born in Peru. He helped chart the Strait of Juan de Fuca, which connects the Georgia Strait and Puget Sound with the Pacific Ocean; and the Sandwich Islands, which had been discovered by Capt. James Cook, on January 18, 1778.

Is enabler a word?

Yes, 'enabler' is a word. English words are allowed to be made up, by ancient convention, and also as guaranteed, in the US, under the First Amendment. (I'm not being funny, some nations specifically forbid making up words.)It does take one other thing, other than just making it up. It has to "catch on". Thus words that weren't words 100 years ago - like "cool", "groovy" or "rap" - are words now, and are in the dictionary. The word "enabler" appears in English dictionaries, for example, Oxford. It is listed as a derivative of the verb "enable". "Enable" is the verb form, "Enabler" is a noun, for one who 'enables'.The word 'enabler' is commonly used as a noun to describe a person, organization or thing which enables another to achieve or activate something. The term is recorded in English back to 1615, though it would have been in use prior to that date.A previously more common usage of the word was to describe a person who makes it possible for another to adopt or maintain what might be considered as bad or harmful habits or dependencies. Current usage is more likely to be in terms of business, training, and so on.For example:They have hired a professional to work with the team as an enabler until the transitional period is over.Prime enablers of this struggling country have been the US and the UK.When is the enabler available to take discussion on the new software? The enabler, in this case, is co-dependent to the addict.Enable isn't be a word, at least not at present, in the ajectival sense of 'being more enabled'.

Italy In Italy, the country became dominated by the Spanish Hapsburg royal family, which came into possession of the Duchy of Milan and the Kingdom of Naples through marriage/inheritance and the Hapsburg/Valois War (1551-1559). Most of Italy would remain as Spanish Hapsburg domains until the death of Charles II in 1700.
