This is normal to an extent, but if it persists for any longer than the conventional healing time for a tattoo, go back to the artist who did it and he or she will take a look at it and will most likely at that point, give you a product or the advice of how to procure products to alleviate swelling. Keeping on a good aftercare regiment will increase the chances that there won't be any adverse effects. And for this, you will clean the site twice a day with a good antibacterial soap and will rinse thoroughly and then apply an emollient to the site, which the best thing to use, is A&D ointment aside from products like Tattoo Goo.

∙ 15y agoSome swelling is normal. However, if the swelling is excessive and does not decrease within a few days, I would suggest you see a doctor.

I would have to say no that is not normal. I have a large tattoo of a gecko on my foot and the tattoo artist did not blow on my foot while I was getting it done. In fact a lot of tattoo artists won't tattoo feet at all because the ink doesn't hold up very well because of the thin skin on your foot and the constant agitation from shoes and socks.
