Yes, there are two modes, one to take on waves of enemies with you and your mate, and the other mode is the story mode where up to 3 people can play, I've tried playing it and the enemies are definitely harder to kill (as in you need to shoot them more) but fun to play though..
You can do this in CO-OP mode.
