If the starter is clicking, that's a good sign. Replace the battery and make sure you didn't have a drain on it. This problem could be caused by several things, but a weak battery or bad starter solenoid would be at the top of my list of things to check.
Battery is weak, battery post connectors need cleaning or tightening up are the first things I would check.Cable going to the starter from battery loose at starter and finally the starter itself or the solenoid or relay may be bad, hopefully it is loose or dirty connections.Maybe all you need is a jump start if the battery is weak. And if it starts have it checked before it leaves you stranded somewhere.
It is likely to be the starter is not working.
try checking your fuses and fuse-able links
Yes, the clicking is the starter, but there's probably nothing wrong with it. Your battery doesn't have enough juice to turn the starter motor (draws lots of current), but still has enough to turn on the lights and accessories. Try jump starting it or trickle charge the battery.
The most common reason for your 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck not to start is a battery that needs to be charged. Charge the battery for a minimum of 15 minutes.
It sounds like a CV axle shaft has come loose from the transaxle. This is usually caused by an improperly installed axle shaft of missing or damaged snap-ring type retainer.
It is likely to be the starter is not working.
First thing to check is the condition of the battery. Many experts feel that any battery that is more than 3 years old should be considered for replacement. Second component to test is the alternator.
dead battery or bad starter (with the clicking, I'm 95% sure its the battery)
you need to get your feet chopped off
it's probably the head gaskets.
It could be battery connection, discharged or faulty battery, faulty alternator or regulator, faulty starter or a loose and corroded connection on the starter.
battery or corroded connection on battery One click most likely is a bad starter motor or solenoid. Many clicks battery or connection problem.
Possible battery, starter or connection problem.
More than likely the battery is to weak to start the engine. If it's not the battery, the starter may be the culprit.
Check your battery and the leads to the battery. Make sure the posts are clean (no corrosion) and tight.
Nothing is wrong. Your stomache is digesting food, but making noise while it does so. Your stomache is constantly making noise, though it is only rarely audible.
It could be a starter problem....can you tell where the click is coming from? is it the started clicking, or a relay clicking?
