I have a similar question, but for a 12 gauge with a serial number of 135380. My question is for a shotgun belonging to my gg granfather, who was a merchant. I would guess the gun's age between 1880 and 1910.

The Hartford Arms Company may be the Hartford Fire Arms co. as the 'Arms' version sold to Simmons, a supplier of merchants. This suggests many guns were produced for general commerce, not the fine arms trade. Obviously, the Simmons information may have came from a source you already have.

None of this helps with the value question we both have, but may be of interest to you.

Did Crescent Firearms make the Plymouth double barrel shotgun?

Plymouth was a trade brand shotgun made by Crescent Fire Arms Co and later by Davis-Warner Arms Co. It was distributed/retailed by H & D Folsome. Shotgun Markings also lists a hammer double barrel by an unknown Belgian maker and indicates the retailer was Spear & Co.

How old would a Rodgers Arms Co Single Barrel Shotgun that has no European markings only the words Rodgers Arms Co Rodgers Steel and a serial number?

I have a Rodgers Arms Co. Double barrel 12 gauge shot gun. The patten date stamped in frame under the barrels Nov 25' 90 with March 12' 95 stamped below the first. The barrels are made of Damascus steel. Their guns are very similar to the ones manufactured by Stevens / Savage just a few years later. I have also had a hard time finding any information about the company.

Who made boito shotguns for k-mart?

Boito, a Brazilian company, actually made them for K-Mart. Their reputation ranks from "utilitarian" to "junky." If you get a good one, it will be a usable firearm that will last you a lifetime. If you get one the horror stories are written about, it will fail, break, etc. K-Mart stopped selling these in 1984. Boito now is owned by E.R. Amantino, the same company that makes Stoeger and is generally regarded as a reputable, but lower-grade shotgun. The K-Mart Models range in price from $50 for a single barrel to $200 for a good double barrel with good wood, etc. Repair parts are available from several dealers. Many models, both single and double barrel (both O/U and SxS) were made. Some regard Boito K-Mart models as one of the worst shotguns ever made. Few say they are anything more than a useful, but non-collectable, tool.
