Faber-Castell are harder and keep a point longer, whereas Prismas are softer, more buttery and crumble faster. Which is better is a matter of preference and style. Prismas are great (in my opinion) on tracing paper, whereas Fabers and great on your regular, printer-type paper or sketchbooks.

∙ 9y agoMany artists prefer Fabercastell colored pencils over Prismacolor. Prismacolor tends to have weak leads that break easily when sharpening. However, they are attached to the wood barrel, so they only break to the edge, not all the way down. Fabercastell also gets better coverage on the paper. There is less white showing through. Fabercastell are oil based and Prismacolor are wax based.
