Check out what (allopathic medical and wholistic for proven answers) Dr. Mercola at www.mercola.com has to say regarding heart burn being attributed to not enough stomach acid to digest food contrary to what a typical (untrained in nutrition or what causes the dis-ease) medical doctor will tell you. I now take a digestive supplement and no longer have heartburn!!!

Is upper eyelid surgery recommended if you have an irregular heart beat?

Yes. My sister-in-law has been treated for an irregular heart beat for 5 years now and just a month ago she had eyelid surgery and faired very well. The surgeon will get all the specifics on you (be sure to tell the surgeon the medications you are on) and when surgery is scheduled it's usually on an "out patient basis" meaning you can go home in a few hours after surgery. They will monitor you during the procedure (approx. 1 hour) and after the surgery.

Can headaches along with slight cramping and hot flashes and more than usual discharge and heartburn be signs of pregnancy?

Heartburn is not a symptom of early pregnancy. Our bodies change every 7 years so you could have eaten something such as peppers, cucumbers, onions or even garlic that may have caused heartburn. If you are a nervous type of person you could be suffering from acid reflux. If you 40 plus and your heartburn is continual it is best to have a good physical by your doctor to be sure you don't have heart problems. Indigestion/heartburn is common during pregnancy but is not a 'sign' of pregnancy and does not usually occur until the end of the second trimester (28 weeks or so).if you are having your period on time and it lasts the normal amount of time then you are probably not pregnant Heartburn/indigestion occurs generally in the first trimester and the last trimester. Many women get it late in pregnancy as the uterus pushes the stomach from underneath and the hormones relax the smooth muscle. While many doctors recommend Tums because of the calcium, the extra calcium can actually cause Acid Reflux. So try to stay away from that as a solution. Try something all natural, like Brioschi or Gingera. Gingera is greatest because it's got ginger in it...which is known to help relieve the nausea and indigestion from morning sickness/indigestion.== ==Though it is not a symptom, it is very common during pregnancy. It's possible; Your symptoms of pregnancy will usually appear anywhere from the first week of your expected period to 1-2 weeks after your first week of expected period. Your first signs of pregnancy most commonly include:missed periodtender/swollen breastschange in color of the breastsfatiguenausea/vomitingincreased sense of smellweight gain

Can a parent get custody if they had a quadruple bypass surgery and then a couple of years later had open heart surgery?

Yes. By now they can be healthy after the operations. Having the operations does not make you a unfit parent. This would be judged case by case based on his/hers health and capability to care for the child.

Is heartburn a common side effect of Strattera?

My 14 year old son has been on Strattera for two months and complains of heart burn. I am a 52 year old male eating a fairly bland diet. I won't say that Strattera causes frequent heart burn but it appears to contribute significantly to mine. yep, seems to be a side effect. i am 30 years old and am trying this medication. i have never had heart burn in my life. i woke up this moring (3 am) to horrible heartburn pain. i had to run to the store to get rolaids (didn't help). so here i am still awake and in pain. i also have severe diarreha that has been going on for the last 4 days. this is my seventh day. if these problems continue i am not going to keep taking it. I am 16 and have been on Strattera for a week (4 days of 18mg and 3 days of 25mg). I have noticed slight heartburn. I never have had it in my life. It's not bad, but I don't know if it's worse putting up with adverse effects or ADD. My 11 year old son just started taking Strattera 2 weeks ago. He has never had Heartburn before, however now he gets severe pain within 5 minutes of eating anything. The pain is so bad that he rolls on the floor in pain which has lasted up to 3 hours. Nothing over the counter has helped so far. I took him in to the Doctor this morning, and he told us to discontinue Strattera as this is a known side affect. In my case, Straterra has helped me focus enough to bring my eating under control, which has significantly reduced my heartburn. I have been on it for three months with my doctor upping my dosage. I would say that no, it does not cause heartburn. Yes. Am up to 80mg now for 5 days and now have heartburn so bad it woke me up at 3:30 am and is still with me 9 hrs later. Does anyone know if this is a temporary side-effect or is this a chronic one? I'm gonna ditch the Straterra as I also have no motivation, am chronically nauseated and breaking out in a sweat each time I finally muster the motivation to get moving physically. I've been getting heartburn around 6pm the last few days. I think it's a combination of the Strattera, and getting too hungry -- the Strattera actually makes me forget to eat! First time in 52 years! So I take Gaviscon, which is the only thing that works for this kind of heartburn (I used to get it from eating greasy meat late in the day). So try Gaviscon, and eat a healthy snack if you can't eat a meal -- don't get too hungry. And stay away from animal fats, chocolate, caffeine, the usual things they talk about with acid reflux disease. Hi Everybody... I wrote back in October with the question about the heartburn. Thank you all for your feedbacks. My daughter, who is now 14 has been on Stattera for about 7 months now. She's on a high dose. 60 mg in the AM and 40 mg in the PM. She still does get heartburn just about everyday, She takes Nexium with the Stattera and that seems to really help her out. The only problem is that she hates taking pills!! She was diagnosed with ADHD when she was only six yrs old. I'm still not too happy with her schoolwork...and she also has no energy to do what normal teenagers do. It does seems to make her feel tired alot, even after all this time. Does anybody have any more side effects that weren't mentioned? Thank You!! :) All these answers were really helpful for me also. My 12 year old son has been taking this since February and the heartburn has just recently gotton worse. We may have to go back to Ritalin. It also makes him tired. I am fifteen years old and I have been on Strattera and I have been getting really bad heart burn recently. As a matter of fact I have it really bad right now which is what led me here. I have noticed that when I take it with a meal I don't get heart burn but when i take it even fifteen minutes afterward i get heart burn really badly I just started taking Strattera (40 mgs a day) and for the first time in my life I have heartburn! It was so weird, and I was trying to figure out what had changed -- and then I remembered the Straterra was new, so I "googled" straterra and heartburn and this page came up. Now at least I know why I'm having heartburn -- I don't remember reading it as a side effect on the info in the package. I took Ritalin for almost 20 years but then was getting some anxiety so the doctor thought I should get off a stimulant. We'll see how we do with this heartburn. I am 14 and have been taking Strattera for about 3 1/2 weeks and i get horrid heart burn and i cant sleep (how does that help with school?). I plan to talk with my doctor about it soon.

What can people do about heartburn?

Suffering from heartburn myself for many years, I eventually stumbled on a cure for myself when I took up Herbalife. Now I'm not sure whether it was just luck or some of the ingredients in this product, but it worked for me. I even quit Herbalife and the heartburn didn't come back. Not I am not a distributor for Herbalife or anything like that, but I do believe the cure lies somewhere in what you eat, and I do believe it has to do with more natural type foods. It is a terrible problem to have and I feel for you if you do have it. I have dedicated a website to it, and hopefully you can find something there to help. Check it out at :www.heartburnproblem.com

What is the difference between heartburn and indigestion?

he main symptom of heartburn is a burning pain in the chest, just under the breastbone. Heartburn caused by acid reflux may be accompanied by other symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, coughing and wheezing, regurgitation of food or sour liquid and chest pain when lying down. If you have chronic heartburn, it's likely caused by GERD, or gastroesophageal reflux disease. This condition triggers an excessive amount of gastric juices backwashing into your esophagus. Thus, they're present throughout your digestive system, which can cause you considerable discomfort. You might also have a hiatal hernia, which can cause heartburn. A hiatal hernia results when a portion of the stomach pushes through your diaphragm and into your chest. Obesity is a risk factor for chronic heartburn, as is pregnancy. Pregnant women frequently experience heartburn because of hormonal changes. In addition, the growing baby puts pressure on the mother's stomach. Certain foods such as tomatoes, carbonated beverages, peppermint, caffeine, chocolate, fatty foods, onions, and spicy foods can trigger heartburn. Alcohol and smoking can also cause acid reflux. You might experience a case of heartburn after eating too much or lying down too soon after eating. If you experience a prolonged case of heartburn and you've recently begun taking a new medication, talk to your doctor. The medicine might be causing your acid reflux, in which case you may be shifted to another prescription Indigestion refers to a whole range of uncomfortable sensations affecting the upper abdomen and chest. Nausea, bloating, belching, mild pain and heartburn are the most common symptoms you'll experience. If your indigestion is accompanied by more serious symptoms such as sudden weight loss, vomiting blood or severe pain, it may be a sign of a more serious condition. You should get immediate medical attention if this happens to you You'll find that indigestion and heartburn share many common causes. Like heartburn, indigestion can be a result of overeating, lying down after eating, smoking, alcohol or caffeine consumption, an overload of spicy or fatty foods, carbonated beverages and hiatal hernia. However, the difference lies in the causes. There are some triggers of indigestion which are unique and are unrelated to heartburn. Irritable bowel syndrome can cause digestive difficulties, as can gallstones and several forms of cancer. If your indigestion symptoms become frequent, you should talk to your doctor to eliminate any potentially serious underlying causes.

Can a gluten allergy cause heartburn?

Definitely. It wasn't until I was diagnosed with celiac and went on a gluten free diet that the heartburn finally went away. It was a miracle after years of misery.

Acid reflux and citric acid?

Yes, citric acid can trigger acid reflux! You have several options for heartburn relief:Try eating smaller meals, and don't eat two to three hours before bedtime.Avoid foods that may trigger heartburn, such as fried food, citrus, tomato, spices, peppermint, chocolate, and carbonated drinks.Cut back on alcohol and caffeine.Stop smoking if you smoke.Lose weight if your doctor says you're overweight.Cut back on aspirin and pain relievers if you take them often.Troonhttp://www.AcidRefluxFix.comI used to care for infants diagnosed with acid reflux & I finally figured out on my own that some baby foods made the little ones suffer a great deal more than others. (didn't always have time to make my own & it isn't always the best way to go anyway). The only difference I could see between Gerbers & Beechnut was citric acid in the Gerbers. Not a cure, but made a world of difference. This is going back some years, but if your baby has reflux, you might want to check the labels.
