• If a theory stands the test of time, it becomes a paradigm. Society also has an influence on scientific theories and paradigms. Sometimes a particular theory is widely accepted among scientists but not among certain groups in society. The resistance to change is strong in human culture, and it can take hundreds of years for a scientific theory or paradigm to be accepted by societies.
