Depends. Are you photographing a moving snail or rotating airplane propeller?

The threshold for hand held shots is 1/60 with image stabilization maybe around 1/40 but if you're subject is moving too fast then you would get motion blur. In order to freeze motion you must have shutter speeds of 1/100 or higher. Taking photographs is really trial and error. You can build upon you're basic knowledge of shutter speed, apperture, ISO etc. and improve you're skills by taking lots of pictures but be sure to enjoy it.

What is shutter speed in photography?

Shutter speed is how fast your shutter opens and closes to take a picture on your camera. Shutter speed also has a lot to do with exposure. The higher the shutter speed (1/2000 example) the less light.

What setting is recommended if you are shooting in low light?

A lens with lower aperture would be great, something less than F2.8 would give you more light to the subject, ISO should be around 400-1600 ( mid range- high range camera) , keep the shutter speed around 1/200-1/20, if you have tripod you can go for lower shutter speed.

What effect does aperture and shutter speed have on exposure?

Shutter speed controls how long the sensor/film is exposed. Shorter shutter speeds normally provide a sharper image. Longer shutter speeds give you more blur. If you're hand holding your camera a good rule to go by is to multiply you focal length by two and use that as your shutter speed. For example, if your focal length is 100mm--your shutter speed should be 1/200sec or faster.

Do digital cameras have shutters?

Short answer: Yes, if you define "shutter" widely enough.Long answer: Rather than a physical shutter as one would have with a film camera, many digital cameras simply turn the sensor on and off as needed (called electronic shutter). This is usually used in point-and-shoot digital cameras. A digital SLR camera, on the other hand, will usually have a physical shutter which opens for the needed duration, just like a film camera. Some SLR cameras, like the Nikon D40 (and probably many others) use both a physical shutter and an electronic shutter; having the latter permits almost unlimited flash sync speed.

Steps to Taking an Action Shot on a Digital Camera?

Capturing the image of a running child or a bird in flight can be difficult for a beginning photographer. Photographs used to be solely for still images. But with today's technology of memory cards to store thousands of pictures and digital cameras that help guide the user, action shots can be successfully done and done well. A simple approach to obtaining a great action photograph is to hold the camera's focus on where the action is expected to take place- under the basketball hoop or the very spot where a child will ride his bike across the parking lot. Anticipating the action, knowing where it will take place and setting up the camera correctly can hugely improve the chances of taking a successful action shot. Another simple approach is to follow the subject with the camera as the movement is taking place. If a child is wheeling around the bases on a baseball field, follow him with the lens from 2nd base to 3rd and an action shot is guaranteed. Chances are that the photograph will capture an unexpected portion of the action shot- a leg kicked up, hair flying above a head showing the subject in motion. This practices is called panning. This requires the photographer to move with the moving subject and use of a slow shutter speed. This will ensure the subject is kept within focus in the photograph but also that the background will be blurred. The blurring gives motion to the photo. With more technology in today's digital cameras, a lot of the worry is taken out of photography. Digital cameras typically have a function called shutter lag. This is the period of time between when the button is pressed to take the picture and the photograph is actually taken. This lag allows the camera to freeze the image and ensure the picture will be in focus. To avoid always taking the picture after the action shot is completed, a photographer should learn to time the button is pushed. Pushing the camera's shutter button halfway down enters the camera into the focus mode. Once the button is fully pushed, the photograph has been taken. To avoid the camera taking too long after storing one photograph and taking another, choose flash cards with high writing time. This is referred to as the latency period in the photography process. Be sure to set the picture resolution high enough so that the image isn't compromised but low enough so images will be stored to the flash cards quickly. Last but not least, practice. Taking the camera outside and photographing birds as they jump across the lawn or kids as they ride their bikes is an excellent practice forum for learning how to take action shots.

What shutter speed should be used to freeze motion in photography?

To freeze motion in photography, a fast shutter speed should be used, typically around 1/500th of a second or faster.

What factors should be considered when determining how to choose shutter speed for a photograph?

When choosing shutter speed for a photograph, consider factors such as the amount of movement in the scene, desired level of sharpness, available light, and the effect you want to achieve. Adjusting the shutter speed can help freeze motion or create a sense of motion blur in your photos.

What is significance of shutter?

This will depend on what you are shooting. If you are shooying water a slow shutter speed will do - if it's sports photography you will need a fast shutter speed. The shutter is a mechanical device that controls the length of time that light is allowed to act on the film. With a shutter speed of 1/125 you shoud avoid blur if the subject is not moving. Any speed under this your camera should be placed on a tripod. www.goldprints.com

How do you change roller shutter strap diy?

To replace a roller shutter strap by yourself first read the accompanying instructions that came with the new part. The instructions state that the shutter should be in the open position. The old shutter strap should be carefully removed from pulling from the top. The new shutter strap should then be placed in the same position where the old shutter strap was removed from.

What shutter speed should you use for landscape?

With a manual shutter speed for any stationary subject you should not go any slower than 1/60th of a second. That way you won't get a blurry image, but you still are letting in enough light into the sensor of your camera. Therefore for a landscape use the smallest 'f' stop possible provided the shutter speed is at least 1/60th second.

Do the cast iron shutter fasteners fit all types of wood shutters?

Cast iron shutter fasteners are standardized, and should fit any type of wood shutter well.

What should my shutter speed be to capture the best possible image?

The best shutter speed for capturing a sharp image depends on the lighting conditions and the subject's movement. In general, a faster shutter speed (1/250 or higher) is recommended for capturing fast-moving subjects or reducing camera shake. However, slower shutter speeds (1/60 or lower) can be used for capturing motion blur or in low light conditions. Experiment with different shutter speeds to find the best one for your specific situation.
