It depends on what myth you look at... in many myths, Artemis is portrayed as a cruel, cold-hearted woman. She forces Iphigenia to be sacrificed, she kills many young hunters for spying on her or for boasting to be better than her at hunting and she kills anyone who tries to "frolic" with any of her maidens or nymphs. In the story of Orion, Artemis is kind and friendly to him, and hunts with him often. She also has an almost unbreakable bond with her brother, Apollo, showing she can be kind. Artemis and Apollo also protect their mother, Leto. When Niobe told her people to not worship Leto because she only had two kids and Niobe had fourteen, Apollo killed the seven boys with arrows of great pain, and Artemis killed the girls with painless, swift arrows.

Depends on which myth you look at.
