There is not one specific best combination. Colors adjacent to each other on the color wheel (analgous colors) are always a good color palette to work with. Each artist has their own particular color schemes. Using opposite colors can create a stronger feeling in a work. Learn the rules and then you will be able to choose when to break them.
The additive primary colors, or primary colors of light, are red, green and blue. The subtractive primary colors, or primary colors of paint, are red, yellow, and blue The primary colors of printing are magenta, cyan, and yellow. thanx bye
Brown --------------------------------- Mixing the purple with yellow at a 3:1 ratio will give you a gray which can be lightened by adding white. All palettes are not the same, however, so you have to experiment with the reds, blue, yellows and purples you have to see exactly what colors you get. The comments above are just a guideline to start with.

Here's a site that will give you some really interesting ideas. All you have to do is click where it says 'spin the color wheel' and it'll give you 3 colors. Very cool and shows you what looks good together (and the name of the colors) http://www.colorsontheweb.com/colorwheel.asp
There can be any number of colors in an analogous color scheme. The only requirement is that the colors be from the same area of the color wheel. If there are more than 3 or 4 colors, then the colors will be much closer together, and you would need a more detailed color wheel to see them all.

It is recommended to use a maximum of 3-4 colors on a slide to maintain visual appeal and clarity for the audience. Using too many colors can make the slide look cluttered and distract from the main message.
