I've lived in Omaha for ten years now, and to me, the most interesting part of the city is the Old Market, which is in downtown Omaha. The Old Market consists of a lot of unique shops, restaurants, and art galleries, as well as horse-drawn carriage rides. It's a beautiful part of the city, and on a nice day, walking around the Old Market is a perfect way to spend an afternoon. Omaha also has one of the top ranked zoos in the world, the Henry Doorly Zoo, which is also located downtown. The city has a lot of gorgeous parks, particularly Memorial Park, and several museums worth checking out, including the Durham Western Heritage Museum and the Children's Museum (which is actually a lot of fun for everyone, not just children). Military aficionados would enjoy Offutt Air Force Base and the SAC museum. Overall, Omaha is hardly a sprawling metropolis, but it does have some great quirky, unique places to go and the people are generally very friendly.
