The section of speech? Probably you are referring to the parts of speech, which are NOUN, PRONOUN, VERB, ADVERB, ADJECTIVE, PREPOSITION, CONJUNCTION, and INTERJECTION. NOUNS are words that describe a person, place, or thing (things don't have to be material-- they can be ideas and thoughts). There are many kinds of nouns, such as gerunds, numerals, proper nouns, etc. PRONOUNS are words known as noun substitutes. Instead of specifying the noun, one can refer to substitute words, including he, she, it, they, and so forth. Pronouns can be singular or plural. VERB is a word that describes action. Verbs can be transitive or intransitive. Transitive verbs are more active verbs such as buy, clean, yell, etc.; while intransitive verbs are more passive, such as think, suppose, imagine, feel ADVERB is a word that modifies a verb, normally by describing it.
