I believe you are talking about the color blindness tests where the numbers are written in colored dots. Basically if you are not color blind you will see the numbers but if you are color blind then you will only see a bunch of dots.

WHY does a zoetrope work?

A zoetrope works by creating an optical illusion that gives the illusion of motion to static images. When the zoetrope spins, the images inside appear to blend together due to persistence of vision, allowing our brain to perceive continuous motion.

Can stars be purple?

Stars may at times appear purple, but that would be an optical illusion caused by atmospheric aberrations, or something of that nature. Occasionaly stars, as seen form earth, look green, too, but that is also an example of an illusion or a trick of human vision.

What do you call the image that persists on-half second after being seen?

That would be called an afterimage. It is an optical illusion where an image continues to appear in one's vision shortly after looking away from the original image.

What is the property related to the sense of continuity of vision?

The property related to the sense of continuity of vision is known as persistence of vision. It refers to the optical illusion that occurs when the visual perception of an object continues for a brief moment after the physical presentation of the object has ended. This phenomenon helps create smooth motion in animations and films.

Can safety glasses affect your vision if you where contacts?

They could. Generally, nonprescription safety glasses have plano lenses, which mean there is no prescription to effect your vision. But, most of them have a general optical center (the part of the lens with the clearest vision). If you went to an eye doctor and got a safety pair of glasses they would measure this optical center to make sure you are getting the clearest vision possible. Glasses with a general optical center do not account for people who's eyes are close or far set. If you were not looking through the optical center it is possible that you would notice some distortion in your vision (nothing to extreme, just not quite clear).

Do optical illusions still work if you have contacts on?

Optical illusions are usually not a function of optics, but rather a function of how your brain interprets the patterns of what it sees. As long as you can see the picture or object clearly, you will probably see the illusion. It doesn't matter if you have perfect/normal vision or if you are wearing corrective lenses.

Can you give a sentence for the word optical?

Optical refers to the eyes or vision. The optical lenses must be ground carefully.

When to Visit the Eye Doctor?

Optometrists help people maintain their vision and treat a variety of optical diseases. When people have difficulty seeing or suffer from diseases like diabetes, they are often advised to visit their eye doctor. This physician can prescribe treatments and eye drops to clear up infections. He or she can adjust the patient's lenses strength in eye glasses and contacts. If the patients has sustained an injury to the eye, the doctor might perform optical surgery.

Why does your mind see optical illusions?

you have to process the picture in you brain to see what it is:)Its actually your brain that causes you to suffer optical illusion. Every image (color, shapes, objects) that your eyes see are processed in your brain before they are reflected back to your vision so it would be brain to eyes as opposed to eyes to brain process.
