The four chambers of the heart are the two lower ones, called ventricles, and the two upper ones, called atria (atrium in the singular). The right atrium collects deoxygenated blood from the body and feeds it down to the right ventricle through a valve called the tricuspid valve- from here, the right ventricle pumps blood to the lungs, where it is reoxygenated. This reoxygenated blood returns to the heart and collects in the left atrium, which feeds it down to the left ventricle via another valve called the bicuspid valve. This reoxygenated blood is then pumped back into the body's circulatory system through the aortic valve into the aorta, which is the most important artery in the body. The ventricles are the chambers that do all the 'serious pumping' and both work at the same time, some induction pumping is done by the atria, but they are mainly the collection chambers for the ventricles.
