As a guitar player myself, I have experienced these!
This is just due to holding your hand in the same position, usually bent over and using the fine muscles of your hand a lot. It is the same sensation felt when holding a pencil for a long amount of time, because the same muscles are used.
When muscles are overworked, they begin to run out of energy reserves and produce lactic acid, that builds up and causes pain, much like any muscle used in the body.
