Since the starter is good but will not turn the engine over when hot, check the engine for free rotation. Turn the engine over by moving the crank by hand (with the ignition off.) The engine could be sticking when hot and not be able to turn over.
your battery is dead or the starter solenoid
it's easy to check the solenoid, put a screw driver across the large nut & the smaller one, and if the starter engages it's the solenoid .make sure the vehicle is in park, or the e- brake is on. ( with key on)
The solenoid is on the starter.
The solenoid is part of the starter.
If the starter is clicking when you turn the key then the relay is not the problem, more likely is the battery and starter wire connections. Take them off and clean them before putting them back on ( have the battery checked ) corrosion will cause the symptom you described, however there should be a starter relay in the engine compartment fuse panel. If the truck is a standard transmission, it could be the Neutral safety switch, which is located under the clutch pedal. However, most likely it is the solenoid on the starter, I just had the same problem, time for a new starter.
you need to have the starter solenoid checked. also check thew ignition switch
It is mounted on the starter motor itself. When you get another starter, it will have the solenoid mounted on it already. If it is bad, just replace the starter, I would not change just the solenoid.
your battery is dead or the starter solenoid
Put a stethoscope or a plastic tube onto the solenoid, listen at it while a friend turns the starter. If solenoid clicks it is good. -Problem then is low battery or dud starter.
If you're implying that it engages without you turning the key, the problem is one of the following: * a faulty wire somewhere, * the starter solenoid was connected wrong * or the solenoid return spring has broken.
The starter solenoid is on the starter. The starter solenoid is on the starter.
Starter solenoid sticking. Replace the solenoid if it is external. If it is internal, then just replace thee starter. It will cost a little more but you will have a new starter and solenoid.
The starter relay or solenoid is probably the problem.
You need to replace the starter solenoid .
Bad starter, bad starter solenoid, or the problem might not be the starter at all.
The starter solenoid is on the starter. The starter solenoid is on the starter.
The starter solenoid is built on the starter. The starter solenoid is built on the starter.
