A grid and a grid reference help to locate places on a map
To be able to determine positions. If you are someplace where there aren't any named features, you need the grid lines on order to describe where you're at. Without them you'd be left with things like: "left corner, about two inches up".
With them, you can say:"slightly north of horizontal grid this-and-that, and just east of vertical grid so-and-so." which offers much better accuracy.
when it goes across it it latitude and going down it is longitude and it is used to pinpoint specific places on the map

No one can draw pictures perfect straight away, I find it easier to draw a picture from another picture; for example, drawing a ballet dancer go on google images print off a nice picture of a ballet dancer, and copy it. It takes practice but the end result is good. Also some people find it easier to draw a grid; use a ruler to draw a grid over the picture then draw a grid the same size on a blank piece of paper and copy what is in each square. To make a person look 3D make sure you use light and dark tones (shading), otherwise it can look 2D. If t doesn't look perfect or exactly the same dont worry, think of it as your own interpretation of it.
You will have to decide whether you want to crop the original image or to draw/paint the original as is and fill in the extra space on either side with an extension of the background. If you want to crop, make your grid on the original in 2" increments and the canvas grid in 3" increments. If you want to extend the background on the canvas, go for a 2" grid on the original and a 2 1/2" grid on the canvas.

The North American national grid does not make the electricity. The grid is a distribution system that transports power throughout the system to homes that are connected to it. The power for the grid is produced elsewhere at generating stations that feed into the grid.
A grid system uses uniform areas of measurement to make it easier to read a map. The placement of certain structures are included on the map so that the user can become acclimated to the map easier.
The numbering and lettering system on a map is called an alphanumeric grid. This assigns a letter and a number to each square to make locating points on the map easier.

The power grid system is the Electrical utility distribution system which provides power to the consumer (end user.) Beginning at the Power Generation Plant , continuing on thru the transmission lines and to the substation and local distribution network, finally to the individual consumer. Power grids are smaller distinct sections of this system which together make up the entire distribution network.
