Al semra is to stay up really late, chill with friends or family. Al Jelsa is a gathering, you can also stay late but it does not necessarily mean it will go into the late hours. Al Sahar is when you stay up very late all the way until dawn or near dawn.

Is a church or mosque worth preserving?

In terms of religious value, mosques are places of worship for Muslims and churches are places of worship for Christians, so both of them are sacred and must be respected & preserved. In terms of architecture and history, many of each are also worth preserving. For example, the great European and Russian cathedrals and many of the Arabic world's mosques are fine examples of decorative and expressive design, and are also of great import to historians for multiple reasons.
