First, what is an IGA? It is immunoglobulin - a type of antibody that protects against infections.

An elevated level MAY correspond to multiple myeloma or monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS). It may also be associated with autoimmune diseases such as Lupus and rheumatic athritis. Finally it is also associated with liver diseases such as hepatitis (however other clear signs are present).
