Earthquakes themselves aren't bad for people, it is their effects on the infrastructure that makes them so devastating. The higher the strength of the tremor, the larger the amount of devastation. The earthquake can cause buildings, and electrical wires to fall and break down, trapping people and causing fires, and cutting off electricity and communication. the falling buildings can kill people and animals, costing a large sum of money, and people to lose their homes, and families. Smaller earthquakes merely cause buildings to shake, or are barely even felt. The scale of devastation depends on the magnitude of the earthquake
