That would be called a "scanner"
You can not enlarge bitmap images without losing quality and bitmap images are larger in size then vector.
A bitmap graphic is also known as a raster image.
Use a good scanner to create tiff, bitmap, jpg or jpeg files. You may have to research image compression if you don't fully understand it.
Vector and bitmap graphics.Bitmap (or raster) images are stored as a series of tiny dots called pixels. Each pixel is actually a very small square that is assigned a color, and then arranged in a pattern to form the image. When you zoom in on a bitmap image you can see the individual pixels that make up that image. Bitmap graphics can be edited by erasing or changing the color of individual pixels using a program such as Adobe Photoshop.Unlike bitmaps, vector images are not based on pixel patterns, but instead use mathematical formulas to draw lines and curves that can be combined to create an image from geometric objects such as circles and polygons. Vector images are edited by manipulating the lines and curves that make up the image using a program such as Adobe Illustrator.Source: http://etc.usf.edu/techease/win/images/what-is-the-difference-between-bitmap-and-vector-images/
A scanner
It is not an acronym it is simply taken from computer terminology meaning a map of bitsA BITMAP is a name of a file use for saving a scan document
You can save any file to anywhere you like on your computer, just remember where you put it.
The term "pixmap" is short for "pixel map. A pixmap stores and displays a graphical image as a rectangular array of pixel color values.A pixmap that uses only a single bit to denote the color of each pixel is often referred to as a bitmap. Bitmap is also sometimes used to refer to any pixmap.http://wiki.answers.com/What_is_the_difference_between_bitmap_and_pixmap#ixzz18metc9Vl
bitmap fonts
A Sprite is a two - dimensional image or animation that is integrated into a larger scene. Initially it was including just graphical objects which the programme handled separately from the memory bitmap of a video display. The ealiest "charectors" in some of the games were sprites. This was typical of the Spectrums, Amigas and apple machines in the earcly 1980s

The BMP file format, sometimes called bitmap or DIB file format (for device-independent bitmap), is an image file format used to store bitmap digital images, especially on Microsoft Windows and OS/2 operating systems. Many graphical user interfaces use bitmaps in their built-in graphics subsystems;[1] for example, the Microsoft Windows and OS/2 platforms' GDI subsystem, where the specific format used is the Windows and OS/2 bitmap file format, usually named with the file extension of .BMP or .DIB (source Wikipedia) or basic metabolic panel (BMP), a group of 8 tests used as a general screening tool. (You probably are looking for the latter lol)
a bitmap is made up of individual squares
The Bitmap Brothers was created in 1987.
