The car will have to be taken out of failsafe mode to get it to start. The specific way to troubleshoot the problem will vary between brands.

What does engine failsafe mode mean 2005 mustang gt?

An "Engine failsafe mode" can mean many different things... It is best to bring your car to a dealer to get the codes out of the computer. The problem you are going to run in to will be the failsafe mode light might be turned off when you bring it to the dealer? Thus, the code reader not being able to read the codes. The light sometimes turns off when you restart it temporarily. I had the same problem and replaced my "throttle body sensor" and got rid of the problem for good. It will cost you about $90 for the sensor. Again, it is best to bring it to the dealer.

What is engine failsafe mode in a mustang?

I am not sure of the cause, but the Failsafe Engine Mode has been a recurring problem in my 2005 Mustang for about two years and over 40000 miles now. At first it occurred intermittently but then developed into a frequent occurrence. The check engine light may or may come on at the same time. When going into Failsafe Engine Mode, th 'Failsafe Engine Mode' wording appears on the dash where the odometer is. Upon taking it to the shop when the problem first started to frequently occur, the fault code indicated the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) so I had that replaced but the problem immediately reappeared. Reprogramming ('reflashing') the computer helped for a number of months but then the problem appeared again, at first intermittently but again developing more frequently. When Failsafe Engine Mode occurs, the engine loses much of its power - I am not sure if it is true but I have read this is due to deactivation of some of the cylinders. My vehicle is a 6 cylinder. I do appear to get slightly better gas mileage while in Failsafe Engine Mode according to the on board computer (you can not access any information on the odometer / information display while in Failsafe Engine Mode but turning the engine off and restarting the car will reset the computer and it is at that time that I have frequently noticed my gas mileage has increased, thus perhaps it is true that some cylinder deactivation occurs while in this mode). I hope I can find a fix soon - I am at this time getting ready to take the vehicle back to the shop for another try at fixing it. I am writing this response while not signed in but if you would like a photo of the Failsafe Engine Mode displayed on the dash you can e-mail me at topojijo302@yahoo.com. Craig

Why gear locked when it's in park mode?

The reason to gear lock in park mode is so you're car wont roll back if your parked on a hill. If your e-brake cable snaps, the car will stop itself from rolling because its in a gear lock. Just make sure when you start you car to keep your foot down on the clutch until you but your car netruel.
