Well you should pick a topic like maybe relating your family to an expired firecracker or dishes or an outfit. Maybe even the ingredients to a smoothie.
This poem has every person in the family somewhat related to the topic.
Fifth of July My family is an expired firecracker
set off by the blowtorch of divorce. We lay
scattered in many directions.
My father is the wick, badly burnt
but still glowing softly.
My mother is the blackened paper fluttering down,
blowing this way and that, unsure where to land.
My sister is the fallen, colorful parachute,
lying in a tangled knot, unable to see the beauty she
holds.
My brother is the fresh, untouched powder that
was protected from the flame. And I,
I am the singed, outside papers, curled away
from everything, silently cursing
the blowtorch.
Dozing off ; Being distracted ; Not paying attention
Cute as a kitten.

Metaphor
A metaphor poem can have any number of stanzas, as it depends on the poet's choice and the structure of the poem. The focus in a metaphor poem is on conveying an idea or emotion through metaphorical language, rather than on a specific stanza count.
