Well it's not a Health License, it's a "Health Inspection Report". See in order to get a Business License from you city or town hall to conduct body piercing services, you need to have an inspection conducted by the local or regional health protection office prior to receiving a business license from the city or town to conduct piercing services.

This inspection covers all aspects of the piercing service to be provided. The inspector will go over release forms, informed consent, the piercing set up, the provision of the piercing, the recommended aftercare routine, the written aftercare sheet provided to the client as well as any emergency procedures and disposal of bio-hazardous waste.

The facility will be inspected for sterilization equipment and operation knowledge, shop cleanliness and hygiene protocols, hot and cold running water and waste facilities. The training requirements for the piercer will be reviewed, first aid certification checked and in most cases the requirement of blood borne pathogens training and certification.

You will also need to prove any requirements under local bylaws for age limits are in place and a method of cross checking ages as well as document retention for inspection purposes. Record keeping is also checked, a monthly spore test must be done, and records kept visible to the general public, as well as the business license and health inspection report posted for the public to view.

Professional body piercers who own their own studios pay a lot of money out to ensure the public is protected and treated in a professional manner. It's a shame, we seem to care more about our clients bodies and their piercings then they do at times.
