The heart is a muscle, and like all muscles, it needs oxygen to survive. When the blood flow that brings this oxygen to the heart is severely reduced or cut off completely, this causes a heart attack. The blood circulation to the heart is slowed or stopped because of fat, cholesterol, and other substances in the arteries. Together, these substances are called plaque. The process of plaque forming and hardening the arteries is called atherosclerosis. When a piece of plaque breaks off in the arteries, blood clots may form. The narrowed arteries and the blood clots prevent blood from flowing through the heart. The heart is then starved of oxygen and nutrients, and this is called ischemia. This in turn causes damage or death to parts of the heart. The American Heart Association says that every 34 seconds, someone in the US has a heart attack.
To prevent a heart attack, you would need to lower your heart attack risk from narrow arteries, being overweight or having high blood pressure.
heart disease or heart attack
Heart attacks are causes by having blockages in the arteries that surround the heart. This causes a lack of blood flow which in turn damages muscle. And is true so.......
Obstuction of blood flow to the heart resulting in damage/death of heart muscle tissue.
The progression of atherosclerosis leads to heart attack when the artery wall thickens as a result of the accumulation of white blood cells.
Chest pain after a heart attack or during a heart attck is caused by constriction of the blood vessels. Your heart needs blood to survive and when the vessels constrict, it limits bloodflow to your heart. This causes intense pain--that is why you are given nitroglycerin tablets. Nitro opens the vessels.
How about cocaine. It causes vaso-constriction of blood vessels in your body including vessels in your heart, which can result in a heart attack.
the stop of blood flow to the heart
heart mediater, it causes rapid increase in heart rate, causes stroke, heart attack etc.
Cardiogenic shock causes the nausea.
A blocked (occluded) coronary artery is what causes a heart attack.

The medical term for heart attack is myocardial infarction. This is when for one reason or another the heart fails to pump normal and eventually stops. A heart attack usually occurs when someone has heart disease, has a heart block or some other contributing factors such as high cholesterol, poor diet, or smoking. These all contribute to causing heart blockages which are the most common causes of a heart attack.
