Black on the piste map.
The longest black piste in in the whole world is the Sarenne piste in Alpe d'Huez. It's on the piste map (from the Alpe d'Huez home page) stated as 19 km but on the Alpe d'Huez home page it says 16 km so the actual length is a bit unclear. It can be noted that last part of the piste (which is several kilometers) after coming down to the bottom of the Sarenne gorge is more transport than black.
This only couts in skiing or snowboarding, but the term 'off piste' refers to the snow or area of the mountain which is not marked as an official slope or route in a ski resort. Therefore this could be deeper snow down a different course on a mountain which is not as popular and is not counted as a proper route. On piste is where it is a regular run or route down a mountain in snow sports, which would be marked on a map and have access to for the public. These include green, blue, red and black runs.
A ski piste is groomed by a piste basher and is marked by poles either side of the run. A ski route is not groomed by a piste basher and usually has poles down the centre of the run.
It's a piste that is not often prepared by a piste machine. Depending where you are in the world it can be the hardest (Europe) or second hardest to double black pistes (North America)
